Mit angespitzten Ellenbogen schlagen Kolari dem Stock Foto-Lächeln des Soll-Zustands die Zähne aus und verteilen High-Fives an alle Überlebenden. Ihr hyperaktiver Post-Hardcore schmiert der Heimatstadt Hamburg neongrelle Mutmacher ins Betongesicht, die in triumphalen Melodien immer wieder durchs Chaos schimmern. Kolari sind fünf Menschen auf der Suche nach dem nächsten Lichtblick. Zwischen „sich-die-Wunden“- und „mich-am-Arsch“-lecken steht oft nur eine zuckersüße Hookline, die dir schmeichelt, dich einkreist, dich taxiert. Widerstand ist zwecklos. Mit Metalcore-Haken, Finten à la Dillinger Escape Plan und zerfrickelten Hardcore-Kicks hart am Rande der Legalität haben Kolari bisher noch jeden Moshpit an die Grenze zur Hyperventilation gebracht. Das vergangenes Jahr in den Orbit gefeuerte Live-Recording „Toxic Narrator“ stellt unter Beweis, dass die fünf Musiker*innen nach einer Zwangspause im vergangenen Jahr wieder zuverlässiger berserken als Omas frisch geölter Nicer Dicer. With sharp elbows, Kolari knocks the stock-photo smiles of the status quo right out of their mouths, handing out high-fives to all the survivors. Their hyperactive post-hardcore slathers neon-bright rays of courage onto Hamburg’s concrete face, with triumphant melodies always shining through the chaos. Kolari are five people searching for the next glimmer of hope. Between licking your wounds and telling the world to kiss your ass, there’s often just a sugar-sweet hookline that flatters you, circles you, sizes you up. Resistance is futile. With metalcore hooks, Dillinger Escape Plan-style feints, and shredded hardcore kicks skirting the edge of legality, Kolari have pushed every mosh pit to the brink of hyperventilation. Last year’s live recording, Toxic Narrator—launched into orbit—proves that after a forced hiatus, these five musicians are back to berserking with the reliability of a freshly oiled Nicer Dicer.
